Riding Denver’s Rails: A Mile High Streetcar History
This book presents a colorful history of the Mile High streetcar, in Denver, Colorado. The streetcar system began in Denver in 1872. The book includes the early horse cars that made up the Denver Horse Railroad Company; the Colfax Avenue Railway that was powered by steam; the Denver tramway, which consisted of running cable cars; and the South Denver Cable Railway Company's electric trolleys. Denver continues to embrace its public transit system with its modernized light rail travel, even though its streetcars were removed from service during the 1950s.
