MR eyes a 10 000 km network
Myanma Railways in Myanmar has completed more than 2000 km of new railway in the past decade, despite limited access to resources. Many more projects are underway, with proposals taking shape for a standard gauge corridor to China, as this article reports. The main factors driving the expansion are improving access to remote areas, connecting regional centers with the new capital at Naypyitaw, and developing cross-border links to neighboring countries, especially China.
