This book is intended for engineering and technical personnel involved in the study and planning of systems of automating the control of marine diesels. Bridge automatic remote control (ARC) systems with high-powered main engines produced domestically and abroad and installed advantageously on large-tonnage ocean-going cargo ships are discussed, as well as the problems of the design and use of ARC systems on ocean-going ships. Brief information is presented on the starting-reverse systems of powerful marine diesels, line and functional diagrams, and descriptions of primary ARC elements and systems. Experience is compiled on the development of remote control systems, and several principles for the building of ARC systems are suggested, taking the starting-reverse arrangements of the engines into consideration.
