The Marine Safety and Security Council Today
The Marine Safety and Security Council (MSSC) counsels the U.S. Coast Guard Commandant on rule-making projects. In addition, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, it thoroughly weighs the benefits and disadvantages of regulations that are imposed on the public. This is done through a thorough review of rule-making projects. This article elaborates on the MSSC's authority, responsibilities, organizational structure, procedures in meetings, reports issued, and its future.
