ANALYTICAL MODEL FOR EVALUATING STRESS-STRAIN RESPONSE OF SOILS

AN ANALYTICAL MODEL FOR EVALUATING THE ACTUAL STRESS-STRAIN RESPONSE OF COHESIVE SOILS, AS OBTAINED FROM THE UNCONFINED AND TRIAXIAL COMPRESSION TESTS AND DIRECT SHEAR TEST, IS PESENTED. AS AN EXAMPLE, A HYPERBOLIC STRESS-STRAIN RELATION IS USED TO REPRESENT THE ACTUAL SOIL PROPERTIES. THE INFLUENCES OF SEVERAL PARAMETERS WHICH AFFECT THE MEASURED RESPONSE, AS SIMULATED BY THE ANALYTICAL MODEL, ARE DISCUSSED. TECHNIQUES FOR EVALUATING THE RESULTS ARE DEMONSTRATED, AND CONCLUSIONS ARE DRAWN ON THE GENERAL TRENDS EXHIBITED BY THE EXAMPLE STUDIED. /AUTHOR/
