Travel Demand Management and Significance of Integration of Urban Policies

Upravljanje prometnom potraznjom i znacenje integriranja urbanih politika

The existing literature sources, research conducted by a large number of authors and a significant number of case studies across Europe point towards a great number of instruments, their synergy, and recommendations for defining a strategy for sustainable transport system. Modern transport planners are faced by a wide spectrum of different transport policy measures, land use policies and measures in the field of technological innovation. The focus of research presented in this paper is on the impact of the use of particular instruments on the demand for different transport modes and their ability to reduce the negative environmental impact of transport. Finally, attention is drawn to the necessity of applying an integrated approach in the overall land and transport system use planning.
