Compromise EEDI solution pleases ferry owners

The ferry industry has secured an amendment from the IMO on the Energy Efficiency Design Index for ro-ro cargo and ro-pax vessels that acknowledges its specialised power requirements and different ship types. Now the next step is to bolster fuel efficiency by at least 20% by 2020--no easy feat.
