Is This the Golden Age of the 8-ft. Paver?
Although many North American contractors covet 10-ft. paving machines because of their size, 8-ft. pavers are becoming the dominant paver in the market. This article discusses some of the advantages of choosing the smaller paver. The 8-ft. pavers offer maneuverability, versatility, lower weight, and lower cost. Although a 10-ft. highway paver can outproduce their smaller competitors, manufacturers are now employing similar technology on both machines, which allows the 8-ft. paver to handle almost all of the jobs that a 10-ft. paver can do, at significantly less cost.
