STRESSES AND DISPLACEMENTS IN A LAYER OF LIMITED THICKNESS, PRODUCED BY AN INCLINED LOAD ACTING ON A FLEXIBLE BAND /IN FRENCH/

EQUATIONS ARE DERIVED TO EXPRESS THE STRESSES AND DISPLACEMENTS IN A COMPRESSIBLE AND ISOTROPIC LAYER OF LIMITED THICKNESS, RESTING ON A RIGID BASE AND SUBJECTED TO A LOAD APPLIED ON A FLEXIBLE BAND. VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL LOADS WERE CONSIDERED, THUS ENABLING THE STRESSES AND DISPLACEMENTS DUE TO AN INCLINED LOAD TO BE DETERMINED BY SUPERIMPOSITION, IT IS ASSUMED THAT THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE COMPRESSIBLE LAYER AND THE BASE IS PERFECTLY ROUGH. CALCULATIONS WERE PROGRAMMED ON THE IBM 360-40 COMPUTER. DIMENSIONLESS INFLUENCE COEFFICIENTS WERE DETERMINED AND ARE PRESENTED IN TABULATED FORM FOR STRESSES AND DISPLACEMENTS. /TRRL/
