KING'S LYNN TRIAL EMBANKMENT

THE SITE CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED IN THE DESIGN OF THE KING'S LYNN SOUTHERN BY-PASS ARE DESCRIBED AND THESE SHOW THE NECESSITY FOR THE TRIAL. THE AIMS OF THE TRIAL ARE ENUMERATED AND THERE IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE SITE AND ITS CONFIGURATION. THE METHOD OF INSTALLATION OF THE SAND DRAINS AND THEIR LAYOUT IS GIVEN, FOLLOWED BY THE TYPES OF INSTRUMENTS USED AND THE METHOD OF INSTALLATION. THE FILLING OPERATIONS AND THE SUBSEQUENT DESIGNED FAILURE ARE NOTED, TOGETHER WITH A DISCUSSION ON THE RESULTS AS FAR AS THESE HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED AT THE PRESENT TIME. /AUTHOR/
