Optimal deployment of energy storage systems in a DC-electrified railway system
This paper describes a design procedure for effective deployment of energy storage systems in a direct current (DC) electrified rapid rail transit system line. It uses optimization, location of energy storage systems, and selecting number. The authors undertook a detailed model of energy storage devices and system load flow for a specific traffic situation in a DC rail transit system. This produced an optimization model that minimizes total energy consumption. The procedure seemed to be a feasible and effective decision making tool with regard to energy storage system location in a DC electrified rail transit system.
