VISCOELASTIC SHRINKAGE STRESS IN SOIL-CEMENT BASE

IN COMMENTING ON THE ORIGINAL PAPER, ENTITLED "VISCOELASTIC SHRINKAGE STRESS IN SOIL-CEMENT BASE," THE FOLLOWING OBSERVATIONS ARE MADE: 1. IT SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT THAT SOIL-CEMENT IS A NONLINEAR VISCOELASTIC MATERIAL, AS HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY DEMONSTRATED. 2. ANOTHER METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE VALUE OF THE SURFACE FACTOR AND THE DIFFUSIVITY COEFFICIENT IS PRESENTED. THE VALUES OBTAINED ARE NOT SO DIFFERENT FROM THOSE GIVEN IN THE ORIGINAL PAPER. 3. BURGER'S MODEL CONSTANTS ARE FOUND TO BE MORE SENSITIVE TO THE SUBMICROSTRUCTURE OF SOIL-CEMENT THAN THE FINAL SHRINKAGE STRAIN.
