Enhancing timetable planning with stochastic dwell time modelling

This study describes a method for estimating stop time distribution of railroad trains and utilizing them in timetable planning or simulation. The models consist of a multi-parametric dwell time estimation tool and an algorithm that derives stop time from track occupancy data. The models are based on a combination of track occupancy data collected by train describers and conventional parameters.
