Latest Bridge-building News: “Semi-integral” Bridges on the New Erfurt—Leipzig/Hale Railway Line

This article describes how a new high-speed railway line is currently being built between the German Cities of Erfurt and Leipzig. Once completed, its’ length will be 120 km, measured from one central station to the other. Also, a new line is being built off this line into Halle and its length is approximately 3 km. There will be six viaducts with a total length of approximately 13 km and three tunnels on this new section of line. Four of these viaducts are being built as novel integral or semi-integral structures, while the other bridges comply with current Deutsche Bundesbahn’s (DB) planning codes for new railway bridges.
