The New Line Copenhagen-Ringsted: the benefits from EU railway benchmarking
The authors undertook a benchmarking study of high speed rail lines in Europe, particularly in France, Spain and Italy. The aim of the study was to gather data regarding budgeting, construction, and general costs involved in creating a high speed railroad line. Rail Net Denmark is developing the first high speed railway line in Denmark, called the New Line Copenhagen-Ringsted. It has a projected budget of EUR 1.10 billion. The benchmarking study will help prevent cost overruns, and allow for accurate and appropriate budgeting of the line.
