Social Media: A New Opportunity to Listen and Engage

Increasingly, public transport operators are using social media to communicate with their customers and potential customers. This article discusses some of the uses of social media in the public transportation sector and describes some of the benefits and challenges. Because social media is, by its very nature, mobile, it is a good fit for communicating with travelers. Social media can be an effective tool to increase patronage, keep customers informed, and listen and respond to their feedback. This can lead to increased customer service and satisfaction and enhance the reputation and competitive position of the public transportation company.
