INVESTIGATION OF THE DRYING PROCESS OF CLAYS AND CERAMIC BODIES WITH A BARELATTOGRAPH

THE DRYING PROCESS OF CERAMIC MATERIALS HAS BEEN STUDIED BY USING A BARELATTOGRAPH. TWO TYPES OF GRAPHS WERE ESTABLISHED, ONE CORRELATING SHRINKAGE WITH WATER CONTENT, AND THE OTHER, LOSS OF WATER WITH TIME. THE INVESTIGATIONS DISCLOSED A MORE COMPLEX BEHAVIOR OF THE CERAMIC MATERIALS THAN HAS GENERALLY BEEN ACCEPTED. ANOMALIES SUCH AS EXPANSION OR CONTINUOUS SHRINKAGE DURING THE LAST PERIOD OF DRYING, OR THAT THE CRITICAL POINT NEED NOT COINCIDE WITH THE END OF SHRINKAGE, WERE NOTED. /A/RRL/
