Reducing congestion on the road network: Part 2, Use of temporary backfill
This report includes a cost benefit analysis and laboratory trials of the use of backfill to temporarily fill an opening during on-going road construction projects. Laboratory trials provided guidance on backfill material, pavement materials and thickness, trench depth and shoring, and duration of construction. Dynamic cone penetrometer, light weight deflectometer, and test facility trafficking were also conducted.
