Impacts from truck traffic on road infrastructure
Impacts des poids lourds sur les infrastructure
The impact of heavy vehicles on road pavements, in terms of rutting and asphalt pavement wear, and on structures (bridges) is explored in this article. Economic constraints require transporting greater volumes of freight at lower cost. The objective is therefore to find an optimal service level that will reduce the wear through an optimized road facility management strategy. Results derived for the impact of trucks on pavements are presented here.
