Introducing co-modality
Introduction a la co-modalite
Co-modality can be defined as "the efficient use of different modes on their own and in combination will result in an optimal and sustainable utilisation of resources." This emphasis on the development of transport modes individually, as well as in combination, to the benefit of the environment, is the focus of this article. In contrast to modal shift, co-modality strives for different transportation modes to complement each other, rather than substitute for each other. The concept is described from a theoretical standpoint and with a view to the sustainable transport and logistics sector.
