COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR RANKINE LATERAL EARTH PRESSURE

RASP (RANKINE ANALYSIS OF SOIL PRESSURE), VERSION 1.0, SEPTEMBER 1970, COMPUTES THE ACTIVE OR PASSIVE LATERAL SOIL PRESSURE ON A VERTICAL PLANE IN A SOIL MASS ON THE BASIS OF THE RANKINE EARTH PRESSURE THEORY. THE EFFECT OF WALL FRICTION IS NEGLECTED. SPECIAL EARTH PRESSURE COEFFICIENTS CAN BE SPECIFIED AS INPUT. THE PROGRAM COMPUTES INTENSITIES, THE RESULTANT LATERAL FORCES (TENSION NEGLECTED), AND THEIR LOCATIONS FOR AS MANY AS 20 SOIL LAYERS, EACH WITH ITS OWN UNIT WEIGHT, ANGLE OF INTERNAL FRICTION, AND COHESION. A MULTIPLE PROGRAMMING CAPABILITY PERMITS CHANGES IN INPUT PARAMETERS TO BE ANALYZED WITHIN A SINGLE COMPUTER RUN. THE PROGRAM IS WRITTEN IN FORTRAN IV AND OPERATES IN BATCH MODE. IT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED ON AN IBM 1130, IBM 360/SYSTEM AND CDC 6400. COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION IS AVAILABLE. PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO COMPUTING CENTER WITH PRIOR CLEARANCE FROM DAMES AND MOORE.
