Technological innovation using a test car for conventional lines

This paper describes an experimental train, called MUE-Train, and provides its configuration and information about its test runs. A train communication network, called INTEROS, was installed on MUE-Train. The communication network is based on a 100Mbps Ethernet transmission technology. INTEROS was created to improve service and reliability. Another system installed on MUE-Train, considered to be a ground equipment monitoring system, was developed to monitor the status of overhead wires and tracks. The goal of the second system is to enhance the accuracy of inspection and measurement, and to decrease maintenance costs.
