BAUER INJECTION ANCHORS

IN THE PAST DECADE THERE HAS BEEN MOVEMENT TOWARDS LARGER AND DEEPER EXCAVATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BASEMENTS, WHICH HAS GIVEN RISE TO PROBLEMS IN THE SUPPORT OF TEMPORARY WALLS IN THIS TYPE OF EXCAVATION. GROUND ANCHORS ARE A SOLUTION TO THIS KIND OF PROBLEM AND HAVE RESULTED IN THESE BEING MUCH TO THE FOREFRONT OF SPECIALIST CIVIL ENGINEERING CONTRACTS. THE BAUER ANCHOR CAN BE USED IN ALL TYPES OF GROUND, SAND, GRAVEL, ROCK OR CLAY, ALL WITH SIMILAR RESULTS, ALTHOUGH LARGE TONNAGE ANCHORS IN CLAYS OF A LOW COHESIVE VALUE ARE NOT RECOMMENDED. THE LENGTH OF THE ANCHOR AND THE ANGLE OF INCLINATON IS DETERMINED THEORETICALLY, ALTHOUGH EXPERIENCE HAS PROVED THAT IT IS NEVER ADVISABLE TO PLACE A GROUND ANCHOR LESS THAN 9 M IN LENGTH AND THAT THE LENGTH OF THE ANCHORED PORTION MUST NEVER BE LESS THAN 4 M. BAUER ANCHORS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR WORKING LOADS OF 25 TONS TO 90 TONS USING SINGLE BARS. WHERE LOADS IN EXCESS OF THIS TONNAGE ARE REQUIRED, RODS ARE USED IN DUPLICATE OR TRIPLICATE BY USING A BOTTOM AND TOP PLATE. THE METHOD OF INSTALLATION IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL. /AUTHOR/
