Onboard monitoring aids track maintenance
Prioritizing track maintenance before poor conditions can cause vehicle damage or derailments is becoming more of a challenge, which has led to new technologies aimed at optimizing track maintenance planning. One such technology is profiled here - an onboard autonomous track monitoring system which is helping to eliminate the use of track geometry recording vehicles and on-track inspectors, with the potential to save both time and money.
