LOAD DISTRIBUTION AMONG THE PILES IN A GROUP /IN ITALIAN/

THE STATIC LOADING OF A GROUP OF VERTICAL RIGID PILES COMPLETELY EMBEDDED IN A UNIFORM SUBGRADE IS PRESENTED. THE LOAD DISTRIBUTION OF DIFFERENT PILES IN A GROUP IS THEORETICALLY STUDIED ASSUMING EQUAL VERTICAL DISPLACEMENTS. USING THE ELASTIC CONTINUUM THEORY MINDLIN'S SOLUTION FOR A CONCENTRATED FORCE ACTING INSIDE THE HALF SPACE IS EXTENDED TO DERIVE INFLUENCE VALUES FOR THE VERTICAL DISPLACEMENTS OF THE PILES. BOTH FRICTION-FLOATING AND END BEARING PILES ARE CONSIDERED. FOR THE LATTER, THE LOAD DISTRIBUTION IS MUCH MORE UNIFORM AND INDEPENDENT OF THE LENGTH OF THE PILES. THE ANALYSIS IS IMPROVED, CONSIDERING THE SURROUNDING SUBGRADE AS AN IDEAL ELASTIC-PLASTIC MEDIUM, THUS AVOIDING THE OVERLOADING OF PERIPHERIC PILES. A RAPIDLY CONVERGENT ITERATIVE METHOD IS PROPOSED FOR AN APPROXIMATE CALCULATION OF LOAD DISTRIBUTION AMONG THE PILES IN A GROUP. /AUTHOR/
