Application of Video Surveillance in Traffic Regulation in the Cities

Primjena videonadzora u regulaciji prometa u gradovima

The paper presents the possibilities of implementing digital video cameras in traffic supply and demand management in a digital city in two ways, but with the same goal of easier, more efficient and on scientific methods based decision-making. The video recordings would be collected from the fixed positions (video surveillance) and from mobile platforms, i.e. patrolling vehicles. Using georeference video recording, virtual reality would be used in the decision-making centre in the geographic information systems (GIS) environment as part of the interoperative traffic and information system in the future intelligent transport systems of the urban environment. In this sense the actual implementations of the geo-referenced video implemented in the traffic regulation systems in the cities have been analyzed.
