AUTOMATIC INVESTIGATION OF THE ADMISSIBLE LOADS ON FOUNDATIONS SUBJECTED TO INCLINED FORCES /IN ITALIAN/

THE METHOD OF PERMISSIBLE LOAD DESIGN PROPOSED BY FROHLICH FOR VERTICAL LOADS, IS EXTENDED TO STRIP FOUNDATIONS SUBJECTED TO UNIFORM, INCLINED LOADS. A COMPUTER-BASED SIMULATION METHOD WAS USED TO DEFINE THE LOADS THAT THE STRIP FOUNDATION CAN SUPPORT WITHOUT CAUSING FAILURE OF THE SUBSOIL. THE COMPUTER PROGRAM UTILIZES THE LOCUS OF POINTS EQUATION, SATISFYING THE RANKINE FAILURE CONDITION. THE METHOD TAKES ACCOUNT OF THE INFLUENCE ON THE ALLOWABLE LOAD OF PARAMETERS SUCH AS THE WIDTH-TO-DEPTH RATIO OF THE FOUNDATION, THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SOIL, AND THE INCLINATION OF THE APPLIED LOAD. /RRL/
