EQUIPMENT FOR THE TRIAXIAL TESTING OF SOIL UNDER REPEATED LOADING

EQUIPMENT IS DESCRIBED FOR THE STUDY OF EARTHEN MATERIALS UNDER THE EFFECT OF DYNAMIC LOADING. IT APPLIES A LOADING SEQUENCE TO A SOIL SAMPLE SIMILAR TO THAT APPLIED TO THE SUBGRADE OF TRAFFICKED PAVEMENTS, WITH SIMULTANEOUS INCREAS- ES IN BOTH DEVIATORIC AND LATERAL PRESSURES, AND IS USED FOR THE DETERMINATION OF SUBGRADE MODULUS UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. THE EFFECTS OF COMPACTION AND SOIL MOISTURE ON SUBGRADE MODULUS CAN ALSO BE STUDIED. /RRL/A/
