DETERMINATION OF THE COMPRESSIBILITY OF GRAVELLY SAND LAYERS UNDER REPEATED LOADING (IN GERMAN)

STATIC AND DYNAMIC TRIAXIAL COMPRESSION TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT TO SIMULATE POSSIBLE STRESSES IN GRAVELLY-SAND MIXTURES, AND PARTICULAR NOTICE WAS TAKEN OF CHANGES IN STRUCTURE AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE GRAINS. RESULTS SHOWED THAT CHANGES IN STRUCTURE WERE SLIGHT AT STATIC LOADS UP TO 50% OF ULTIMATE LOADING, BUT INCREASED PROGRESSIVELY OVER 50%. IT WAS ALSO ESTABLISHED THAT THE COARSE GRAINS DECREASED, WHEREAS THE FINE GRAINS INCREASED, BUT INDIVIDUAL VALUES VARIED ACCORDING TO THE MIXTURE. /FG/RRL/
