LANDSLIDE RESEARCH PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT

THE PURPOSE OF STUDY WAS TO IMPROVE METHODS FOR RECOGNIZING AND CURING LANDSLIDES. THIS REPORT SUMMARIZES THE INFORMATION DEVELOPED ON THE LANDSLIDE. AT LIVINGSTON, MONTANA. ALL DATA INDICATE VERY COMPLEX CONDITIONS. THIS IS CAUSED PARTLY BY PREVIOUS SLIDES IN THE AREA. THE REPORT INDICATES THAT THE ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY METHOD WAS OF LIMITED USE IN THE TWO INSTANCES WHERE IT WAS TRIED. THE SLIDING PLANE OR PLANES WERE NOT FOUND. GENERALLY, CONTINUED SLIDING IS EXPECTED. /RPB/
