USE OF LIME STABILIZED MOORUM IN THE SCIENTIFIC CONSTRUCTION OF AN AIRFIELD WITH A VIEW TO EFFECTING ECONOMY

AN AIRFIELD AT KHAJURAHO HAS RECENTLY BEEN CONSTRUCTED ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS PROPOSED BY THE CENTRAL ROAD RESEARCH INSTITUTE, NEW DELHI. THE RECOMMENDATIONS PROVIDE USE OF LOCALLY AVAILABLE MOORUM STABILIZED WITH LIME IN THE LOWER LAYERS FOR ALMOST TWO-THIRDS THE TOTAL THICKNESS OF THE PAVEMENT. THIS HAS RESULTED IN A CONSIDERABLE SAVING, WITHOUT IN ANY WAY AFFECTING THE SCIENTIFIC DESIGN REQUIREMENTS. THIS WILL SERVE AS A CASE HISTORY FOR SIMILAR OTHER JOBS. /AUTHOR/
