ROUGHNESS-INDUCED BOUNDARY-LAYER TRANSITION ON BLUNT BODIES
A correlation is presented for the prediction of roughness-induced boundary-layer transition on blunt bodies in high speed flow. It is derived for conditions of distributed roughness wherein typical roughness-element height is comparable to, or greater than, the boundary-layer thickness. The correlation is verified by three sets of data, and is seen to hold for a greater range of values of roughness height to boundary-layer thickness ratio than assumed in the derivation.
