Evaluation of Influence on Traffic Flow by Eco Driving Vehicles by Using Road Traffic Simulation
Generally, fuel consumption on general road is greatly influenced by idling and re-acceleration for stop by red traffic signal. Therefore, if the number of stops by traffic signal can be reduced, the large fuel consumption reduction can be expected. In this paper, the authors evaluate the effect of the fuel consumption reduction and the influence on traffic situation of such environmentally friendly driving (eco-driving) by using road traffic simulation. As a result, we showed this eco driving has possibility to reduce fuel consumption without negative influence on traffic except heavy traffic condition.
