BEARING CAPACITY FROM DYNAMIC CONE PENETRATION TESTS

AN INVESTIGATION WAS INITIATED TO STUDY THE CORRELATION BETWEEN DYNAMIC CONE TEST AND ALLOWABLE SOIL PRESSURE. PLATE LOAD TESTS WERE CONDUCTED AT DIFFERENT RELATIVE DENSITIES AT THE SURFACE WITHOUT A SURCHARGE, AND SETTLEMENT FOR DIFFERENT WIDTHS OF THE FOOTINGS WAS ESTIMTED USING TERZAGHI'S EXPRESSION. STANDARD PENETRATION TESTS WERE ALSO CONDUCTED. THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM THE CHARTS DYNAMIC CONE TEST CORRELATING THE DYNAMIC CONE TEST AND SOIL PRESSURE VALUES WERE COMPARED WITH THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM PLATE LOAD TESTS, CARRIED OUT IN THE FIELD AT DIFFERENT SITES. THEY WERE FOUND TO BE IN REASONABLE AGREEMENT. /AUTHOR/
