THE INFLUENCE OF A THIN-WALLED PIPE LAID IN THE SOIL ON THE BEARING CAPACITY OF THE SOIL /IN GERMAN/

A METHOD IS DISCUSSED BY WHICH THE BEARING CAPACITY OF A CONTINUOUS, RIGID STRIP FOOTING CAN BE DETERMINED WHEN A SIMILARLY CONTINUOUS THIN-WALLED PIPE IS LAID UNDER THE CENTER OF THE FOOTING. THE METHOD IS BASED ON STATES OF FAILURE IN THE SOIL, AND THESE ARE ILLUSTRATED BY MODEL TESTS. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE BEARING CAPACITY OF THE SOIL IN THE FAILURE STATE, THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE BEARING CAPACITY OF THE SOIL, AND A COMPARISON OF THE CALCULATED AND THE MEASURED BEARING CAPACITIES. /FG/RRL/
