DETERMINATION OF THE SAFETY COEFFICIENT IN FOUNDATION AND SOIL MECHANICS /IN FRENCH/

ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE FACT THAT THE SELECTION OF THE SAFETY COEFFICIENT VALUE IS OFTEN BASED ON THE SUBJECTIVE EVALUATION OF THE FACTORS INFLUENCING IT. A MORE OBJECTIVE METHOD OF DETERMINING THIS COEFFICIENT IS PRESENTED, ON A SEMI-PROBABILISTIC ANALYSIS OF THOSE VARIOUS FACTORS AND THEIR ACCURATE EVALUATION. SEVERAL CASES ARE CONSIDERED (STABILITY OF FOUNDATIONS, EXPERIMENTAL LOADING OF FOUNDATION PILES, AND PILE DRIVING DYNAMIC FORMULAE) AND USED TO SHOW THE POSSIBILITY OF TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE VARIOUS FACTORS AFFECTING THE STABILITY OF THE STRUCTURE BY MEANS OF PARTIAL COEFFICIENTS.
