ROCK MECHANICS ANALYSIS OF HELLS GATE BLUFFS

THIS REPORT OUTLINES THE ROCK MECHANICS ANALYSIS CONDUCTED AT HELLS GATE BLUFFS, BRITISH COLUMBIA IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TRANS-CANADA HIGHWAY. ROCK TYPES, FORMATIONS, AND GEOLOGY, AS WELL AS THE VARIOUS TESTS AND SURVEYS CONDUCTED, ARE DISCUSSED. THE RESULTS AND METHODS USED FOR STABILIZATION ARE ALSO GIVEN. BASICALLY, PLANNED STABILIZATION DESIGN MEASURES INVOLVED ROCK BOLTING AND ROCK BOLT DAMMING TO RESIST GRAVITATIONAL AND FIELD THRUST FORCES. /CGRA/
