DETECTING AND MEASURING OIL ON WATER
Any difference in the properties of oil and water offers a potential method for detecting pollution. Successful detectors can discriminate among different oil types and are not confused by other pollutants which may resemble oil. A group of detectors which have had some success is examined from the viewpoints of the effects exploited and how much information can be delivered.
