NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF UNIFORMLY LOADED STRIP FOOTINGS ON DEEP ELASTIC FOUNDATIONS

A DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF A METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE REACTION AND BENDING MOMENT DISTRIBUTIONS AND THE DISPLACEMENTS OF A UNIFORMLY LOADED, SMOOTH NARROW RECTANGULAR FOOTING OF ANY FLEXIBILITY WHICH RESTS ON A VERY DEEP HOMOGENEOUS ISOTROPIC ELASTIC FOUNDATION. THE ANALYSIS IS BASED ON THE REPRESENTATION OF THE LONGITUDINAL REACTION DISTRIBUTION BY SERIES WHICH INCLUDE TERMS HAVING SINGULARITIES AT EACH END OF THE FOOTING. DIFFERENT SERIES REPRESENT THE REACTION DISTRIBUTION NEAR THE LONGITUDINAL CENTER LINE AND NEAR THE EDGE. THE RESULTS ARE SUMMARIZED IN A SERIES OF GRAPHS AND ARE COMPARED WITH RESULTS PRODUCED BY OTHER TECHNIQUES. /AUTHOR/
