Wynyard Precinct Bus Improvement Feasibility Case Study 2012
The objective of this paper is to introduce a relatively new way of assessing transport improvements across all modes within a complex CBD environment using the Wynyard Precinct Bus Improvement Feasibility Study 2012 as an example. In addition to this, the paper also looks at the importance of setting the ground rules (i.e. project vision & objectives, design principles, transport hierarchy of need, etc.) at the commencement of any transport project and selecting the appropriate transport modelling tool to ensure that the proposal/s can be evaluated in a way that installs confidence in those who have to make decisions around whether or not these improvements should go ahead. It also looks at the importance of "place making" and how transport projects should not only look at the functional outcomes of simply moving people efficiently from A to B. The place making component is just as important as the functional component of the transport project as it opens up numerous opportunities for improving the surrounding public realm and built environment.
