LABORATORY STUDY OF SOIL STABILIZATION USING MILLED BLAST

ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF 4 SOILS, STABILIZED WITH BINDERS CONSISTING OF VARIOUS PROPORTIONS OF PORTLAND CEMENT AND MILLED BLAST FURNANCE SLAG, AND SLAKED LIME AND SLAG, WERE STUDIES. IT IS SHOWN THAT PARTICULAR BINDER COMPOUND FOR EACH SOIL HAS EFFECT ON DRY DENSITY OBTAINED BY SPECIFIC COMPACTIVE EFFORT. CLEAR CORRELATION EXISTS BETWEEN OPTIMUM BINDER COMPOUND AND PLASTICITY INDEX OF UNTREATED SOIL. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THIS CORRELATION MAY BE USED AS A GUIDE TO OPTIMUM BINDER COMPOUND FOR OTHER SOIL TYPES.
