Deconstructing New York City's High Line Park: The How, Why and Wherefore
The High Line Park (HLP) is located on the far west side of mid-town Manhattan in New York City. The Park, created from an old, unused rail line, has been open to the public for less than three years but is already perceived as a stunning success. This article explores the background, the varying interest groups and stakeholders, details of the transactions that made it possible, impacts of the HLP from different perspectives, and transferability of the project to other locations.
