EXPERIENCE WITH LARGE DIAMETER CAST-IN-SITU PILING

LARGE DIAMETER CAST-IN-SITU PILES HAVE BEEN USED EXTENSIVELY IN ISRAEL DURING THE LAST TWO YEARS. PILES UP TO 24 M LONG HAVE BEEN CAST, USING TREMIE METHODS BELOW THE WATER TABLE. RESULTS OF PILE LOADING TESTS AND DIAMOND-DRILL CORING OF COMPLETED PILES ARE PRESENTED AND ANALYZED. PROBLEMS OF EXECUTION ARE DISCUSSED. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES AND WITH CAREFUL EXECUTION, PILE DESIGN LOADS CORRESPONDING TO 50 KG/SQ.CM IN THE CONCRETE MAY SAFELY BE USED. /RRL/AUTHOR/
