CORRELATION OF DYNAMIC AND STATIC PILE TESTS

THE DYNAMIC TEST, BASED ON INDUCING VIBRATIONS IN A PILE BY MEANS OF A BLOW ON ITS UPPER END, PERMITS RAPID CHECKING OF ITS SOUNDNESS AND ITS EMBEDMENT IN THE FOUNDATION SOIL. THE METHOD IS ESPECIALLY SUITABLE FOR CAST-IN-SITU PILES, IN WHICH EVEN SERIOUS DEFECTS CANNOT BE DETECTED BY SIMPLE MEANS. AT PRESENT, THE DYNAMIC METHOD SERVES FOR COMPARATIVE CHECKING OF PILES PLACED UNDER SIMILAR SOIL PROFILES, AND ACCORDINGLY REQUIRES A SERIES OF STATIC LOADING TESTS, WITH WHICH THE DYNAMIC DATA ARE SHOWN TO BE IN AGREEMENT. /RRL/ AUTHOR/
