CONSOLIDATION PROPERTIES OF ARID-REGION SOILS

SALINE AND ALKALI SOILS OCCUR IN MOST PARTS OF ARID AND SEMI-ARID REGIONS. THESE SOILS OWE THEIR DISTINCTIVE CHARACTER TO THEIR EXCESSIVE CONTENTS OF SOLUBLE SALTS, EXCHANGEABLE SODIUM, OR BOTH. A THEORETICAL STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF SALT AND ABSORBED SODIUM ON THE CONSOLIDATION CURVES IS PRESENTED. /RRL/A/
