ORGANOSILICEOUS COMPOUNDS FOR SOIL-CEMENT (IN RUSSIAN)

DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF A METHOD DEVELOPED FOR MAKING SOIL CEMENT WATER-REPELLANT AS A MEANS OF PROTECTION AGAINST THE EFFECTS OF THE WEATHER. WEARING TESTS, FROST AND WEATHER RESISTANCE TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON SOIL-CEMENT SAMPLES TREATED WITH DIFFERENT ORGANOSILICEOUS COMPOUNDS. THE POROSITY OF THE SAMPLES WAS ALSO STUDIED. TEST RESULTS SHOWED A MARKED IMPROVEMENT IN ALL PROPERTIES OF THE TREATED SAMPLES. BECAUSE OF THEIR HIGH COST, ORGANOSILICEOUS COMPOUNDS CANNOT BE USED WIDELY AT THE PRESENT TIME; IT IS HOPED THAT THE EXPANSION OF THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLY LOWER PRICES. /LCPC/RRL/
