SARTRE Cooperative Control of Fully Automated Platoon Vehicles
The SARTRE project is an EU FP7 project which aims to develop strategies and technologies to allow vehicle platoons to operate on normal public highways with significant environmental, safety and comfort benefits. The vehicles in the platoon, except for the lead vehicle, will drive with fully automated control of speed and direction. This paper provides an overview of the vehicle and platoon control systems, describes the use and benefits of shared vehicle data transmitted using V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) communications, shows the results to date, and describes the remaining tasks.
