Research on Jam Level Variability Utilizing the Location Information of Traffic Lights
The travel speed of different vehicles may be considerably variable, especially on a road with traffic lights. So it is difficult and inaccurate to publish and evaluate a single value of jam level on a signalized road. In this paper, by utilizing the location information of traffic lights in the map, the jam level variability and its influence to the evaluation are analyzed. Then a method to publish and evaluate the jam level along with an acceptable range (AR) of speed on the signalized roads is proposed. Test result shows that the method can improve the evaluation reliability of jam level prediction
