Building Standardized Performance Metrics for Tolling
With the nation divided into four major fractions of toll collection standards, a minority of collection agencies accepting federal funds, popular opposition to tolling – currently the way other than tax to fund roads, and Congress threatening to impose interoperability on the nation, US DOT faces a number of challenges in its tolling work. Similarly, pricing work faces issues with federal funding, it faces technical issues with enforcement and popular opposition. However, in this very interesting, highly deployed market, new technologies, new approaches and grassroots efforts to solve the issues listed above are starting to appear.
