Achieving Affordable Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication
Following the theme of the conference, Autotalks presents how an affordable vehicle-to-vehicle solution can be achieved. The conditions for market success are presented, with emphasis on cost and performance. It is shown how a dedicated integrated VLSI is used to build an affordable system, cutting the cost, size and providing a solution with all necessary building blocks. Aftermarket requirements of lower size and cost are addressed by presenting a variant of the solution. The requirements of modem, security, positioning and application reliability are shortly described. The outcome is that compromising performance may lead to failing satisfy customers’ expectation, in a way that may risk the market. In particular, compromising the security can open to door to hacking attacks, that will kill the market. The minimum requirements are detailed, with the current solution status. The conclusion is that an optimized integrated solution for vehicle-to-vehicle communication, arriving is 2012, will have the required pricing point to create the market, while supporting all the required performance.
